I have always been an animal lover… but traditionally I have always considered myself a cat and large (specifically bullied breeds) dog person. In recent years, I have had the opportunity to meet and fall in love with a few small dogs – something I thought to be impossible.
Despite my love of a few specific small dogs, I figured that I would be safe from wanting to bring animals when it came to Fur-Ever Homes Rescue.. While I believe that all animals should have a safe and loving home, I figured that the small dogs at the rescue would not hold the same sway over my heart the way the few other small dogs I have fallen in love with have.
Enter Nena. She is a mixed breed dog who has stolen my heart. I am not sure of her age (due to her being a rescue), but I would assume she is under five. When we first went to Fur-Ever Home Rescue to photograph Nena, we were told that she had fear aggression. When I went into her pen to retrieve her for pictures, I had that in mind, but she was an absolute darling! Not only does she know and respond to her name, but she is great on a leash and is one of the most gentle dogs I have had the pleasure to work with.
In subsequent visits to the rescue, Nena is consistently happy to see us which is prominently shown by her wagging her whole body, not just her tail. I firmly believe that Nena will make an AMAZING addition to anyone’s home! I even think that her fear aggression will be easy to work on, especially as I’ve never even witnessed it! I would take Nena home in a heart-beat if my schedule would permit it!
If you are interested in meeting, adopting or fostering Nena, then you should visit Fur-Ever Homes Rescue and fill out the application form. I promise you, it will be the best decision you make today!
