Last night I popped up to Fur-Ever Homes Rescue to photograph the five new arrivals that came up from Mexico over the weekend. I love being involved with two amazing rescues who go out of their way to rescue those animals who need help, no matter how far away they are.
The one sweetheart I fell in love with last night was little Thea (formally "Tripod", I'm sure you can figure out why from her picture!). Thea was just full of love and wanted nothing more than to be in somebody's lap, giving kisses, and being as close to that person as possible.
While Thea is on her way to her happy ending, I'm afraid her beginning wasn't too good. Jaclyn, the lovely foster coordinator at Fur-Ever Homes Rescue, told me that Thea had been found in a dumpster with her puppies. Her bad leg (a birth defeat I believe) was wrapped around her neck and her puppies hadn't survived. She was brought to the shelter in Mexico before she was selected to come up here to Canada. Now, I won't lie, but as Jaclyn was telling me Thea's story, I started to cry. Now, crying and trying to take photographs doesn't work so well, so I had to take a deep breath and remind myself that the wonderful volunteers at Fur-Ever Homes have changed the life of this little girl and that made me feel better.
Thea needs a foster, or better yet - a home to call her own! She loves people, is very sweet-natured, and loves her toys! As we were leaving last night Thea was all over her newfound stuffed toys. I would take this little girl home in an instant....and I may just end up fostering her if she doesn't get adopted this weekend....just don't tell my husband.
